This is the Multi Media presentation for my product.

MACBOOK TABLE and CLASSROOM TABLE

My macbook table:

-caters to both left and right handed people

-not much adjusting has to be done

-easy to carry around

-light and durable ( made out of plastic )

Ergonomics and Anthropometry Part 1

1. Compare the two types of setup and state reasons why one of the setup is preferred.

The first set up is not recommendable as it is not designed to help the user.

The second set -up is better because it considered the problems faced by the user and was designed to help the user.

2. What are the area of considerations when designing a conducive and comfortable workplace?

-Freedom of movement

-Comfort and simplicity of the chair, table etc.

-Height and depth of the monitor, laptop etc.

-Lighting

-Prolonged laptop use

-Desk space

3. State the reasons why these considerations are important.

Because most people spend most of their time at work, it is important to make sure that prolonged hours at the work desk does not harm them in any way.

Elderly Challenge- EQs

What problems are the elderly facing?

⓵ Can we innovate on the already existing products to better benefit the elderly?

Is it possible to create something that allow the elderly to do things they enjoy with ease without injuring himself?

⓶ What kind of house is considered suitable for the elderly?

⓷ What affects the elderly's happiness?

What can we do to make the elderly feel less lonely?

Are the elderly healthy enough? Why?

Will polluted air further deteriorate the elderly's health? Why?

⓵ We can use SCAMPER to improve the product. We must make sure that we just add on to the product and not change the whole product.

⓶ It should have facilities that helps the elderly move around easily. With the facilities, the elderly might not feel at home since normal homes not have these facilities, so, a home for the elderly should make them feel at home.

⓷ We must make sure that the elderly are happy with the arrangements made for them. For example, they might not be happy living in a house with the various facilities.

Holiday work - Part 1: Understanding the ‘The Elderly Challenge’

Explain in your own words,the FOUR key recommendations of the report.

-Housing size and types are varied to provide the elderly with more choices.

-Public transport should be elder-friendly, for example, they should be wheelchair-friendly.

-$10 million fund will be set aside for organising programmes and activities for the seniors.

- Continue building on strong family ties so that the elders can depend on their family for support before anything else.

State ONE way that the CAI report is recommending to make our public housing more elderly-friendly.

It is suggesting that support services be provided within the community, as well as opportunities for the seniors to lead an active lifestyle.

State TWO ways on how we can ensure that the quality of elderly care here in Singapore is affordable.

-Caregiver Centres can be set up to support families in care-giving through provision of information resources and programmes.

-The private and people sector can study and develop the range of community-based nursing services and personal care services so as to increase the range of services available in the community.

After reading the CAI report, what do you are the THREE things that you can do, as an SST student, to help overcome these elderly challenges.

- We can help out at the public campaigns that are suggested in this CAI report.

- We can start with our own family. We can build strong ties with the elders in the family so that they know they have someone to depend on.

- Innovate and think of new products that will benefit the elderly.

Q1) I learnt about the four national taps, how NEWwater is made and the future plans to increase our supply of potable water.

Q2)How water can be treated with membrane technology. How water can be treated with Ultraviolet rays.

Q3) Singapore consumes about 600 olympic-sized pools of water everyday.

Q4) I can install a dual-flushed system.

Recycling, reducing and reusing @ SST

What do we have?

The three big recycling bins found just beside staircase B

Dual flush system

The words ‘save the earth , use only what you need’ are found above every tap to remind the pupils to not waste water

What can we do?

Cut down on the use of macbooks, shut them down or put them to sleep if not in use to save battery

Deposit empty drink bottles into the recycling bins

Use up both sides of the paper

Don’t throw away paper , deposit it into the recycling bin

Refrain from buying bottled drinks if possible, drink the water from the water cooler

Use recycled paper

What is RESEARCH?

An investigation carried out to find out something. It can be done individually or as a team.

Why do you think research is important?

Research can lead to important new findings that may greatly impact the lives of many people.

How can we conduct good research?

We should depend on reliable sources for information.If the situation allows, we can purchase equipment to aid in our research.
